Oppo to be replaced by Learning App Byju's on Team India jersey
The Indian team's jersey will soon see the names of Bengaluru's company, Baiju, instead of the Chinese company Oppo. Oppo has decided to hand over the sponsorship rights to online tutorial firm Byju. The contract between BCCI and Oppo was signed in 2017 for a period of five years, which was reportedly Rs 1079 crore. Team India will wear jerseys with new brand name from upcoming domestic season.
The company seems to be costly to deal with this, so he is handing over this right to Baiju. Oppo's name will appear on Team India's jersey till West Indies tour. After this, Bepiu's name will be on jersey instead of Oppo from the domestic series against South Africa.
In March 2017, after repeating the bid of Vivo mobiles worth 768 crores, Oppo won jersey rights to the Indian team for a period of five years.
According to the deal, OPPO was paying Rs 4.61 crore to BCCI for every bilateral match and Rs 1.56 crore for the ICC event game.
Any company informs the BCCI for any transfer of sponsorship. Biyju and Oppo have informed the BCCI of their talks. After this agreement, the board will not make any difference to the sponsorship of the sponsorship. Biju will also have to pay the equivalent of Oppo.
